A Chartered Accountant by training and at heart but one who has spent over 40 years in the world of insurance, first as a Lloyds’ Auditor specialising in Lloyds’ Brokers then as Group Financial Controller of Wigham Poland before joining The Legal Protection Group and becoming Managing Director of subsidiary International Assistance Services Limited.
Following the sale of LPG to Sun Alliance, Tim relocated to the North West to run the Sun Alliance Broker Personal Lines business and to merge it with fellow subsidiary Bradford Pennine where he became Chief Executive and in 1996 merging that combined business with the Royal Insurance broker personal lines business.
Tim’s experience in bringing businesses together was again put to good use in creating a new business unit in RSA by combining a variety of healthcare products and services together into a single unit entitled RSA Healthcare & Assistance. He was then enticed away to join Groupama UK where he held the role of Managing Director for 4 years before grasping an opportunity to lead a leveraged buy out of the RSA Healthcare & Assistance he had previously built, rebranding it FirstAssist and restructuring that business, selling off the Private Medical Insurance aspect and creatin g two distinct businesses and taking out significant costs for its private equity owners.
Having stepped down as CEO of FirstAssist Tim started his plural career as Non Executive Director and carrying out consultancy work for private equity firms. Tim Is currently Chairman of Age UK Enterprises Ltd, Chairman of Premier Occupational Healthcare Limited and Premier Primarycare Limited, NED of Hastings Insurance Services Limited, InterHannover and of Europ Assistance Insurance Holdings Limited. He also chairs Risk and Audit Committees and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants NED Committee.
Tim is married to Ann and they live in Epsom and have three grown up children – Justin, Davinia & Tarrant. When not fulfilling his business and Livery commitments Tim likes relaxing in their house in the Vendee region of France enjoying a glass or two of fine wine.
