A lecture by Janie Ramsay, who worked at Sotheby’s during the auction of the Duchess of Windsor’s stunning jewellery collection.
The story of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor is one of the most controversial in the history of the British Royal family. As she made the transition from American socialite to Royal exile, Wallis Simpson built-up a spectacular jewellery collection, which was sold at Sotheby's after her death in 1986.
Janie will explore the impact Simpson had on the Royal family, including her and the Duke's relationship with Hitler, and much more during a fascinating hour-long presentation with slides. She will talk in detail about the major pieces in the collection and answer questions about the jewels.
This is a Livery Committee event open to members, their families and guests. It will be a virtual event.
