Our Current Officers

The Company is governed by a Court of Assistants.

The Court is responsible for policy, strategy and overall management of the Company and appoints a Clerk (Victoria King ) to manage its day-to-day affairs.

Each year the Court elects from its ranks a Master, together with a Senior Warden and a Junior Warden.

Master – Sara Fardon

About Sara Fardon

Sara has been employed in the insurance industry for 40 years as an insurer and broker, the last 26 of which have been at Willis Towers Watson. She is currently regional director at WTW Birmingham responsible for corporate clients.

She is a Fellow and Chartered Insurance Broker and a Fellow and Chartered Manager of the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) and Chartered Management Institute (CMI) respectively.

Sara has served on the board of the CII, the member engagement committee of the CMI, and as a member of the Networks & MGA committee for BIBA. She became a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Insurers in 2015 and Liveryman in 2016. She served on the livery committee, before being admitted to Court in 2019, as the new Chair of Livery. She became Junior Warden in 2023.

Sara enjoys volunteering. She is Chair of the village parish council and Secretary of the local youth club. She enjoys dressmaking, swimming and cycling. Her favourite passion is her allotment which offers peace, quiet and tranquillity from a busy world and delivers a wide range of fresh fruit and vegetables. Sara lives in Bedfordshire and has been happily married to Adrian for 34 years.

About Ajay Gupta

Ajay has over 35 years of experience in global insurance and reinsurance, currently
serving as Group Chief Operating Officer of Oneglobal Broking Ltd, a fast-growing
Lloyd’s broker. He has previously been a Board Director and Chief Underwriting
Officer at Charles Taylor managing agency, and has held leadership roles at Sun
Alliance, Employers Reinsurance Corporation, GE Insurance Solutions, Allianz, and
Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Underwriting at Lloyd’s during his career.

Ajay is passionate about developing talent and advocating for professional training,
diversity and inclusion. He holds an MBA in International Marketing and Finance and
is a Trustee of the Lloyd’s Benevolent Fund. He is married with two daughters.

Junior Warden - Claire McDonald

About Claire McDonald

Claire is CEO of Scor Business Solutions, a corporate insurance provider which she joined in September 2024. Prior to this appointment Claire was CUO for HDI Global SE responsible for Property, Engineering and Marine (appointed January 2022) having been responsible on joining HDI for UK and Ireland from March 2019.

Before this she worked for over 30 years with Allianz in a mixture of underwriting and operations leadership roles, both on a local basis in UK and France and in more recent years in Global roles as Global Head of Operations and Global Practice Leader, Allianz Multinational).

Claire is chair of the IUA and a Vice President of the Insurance Institute of London.

Claire joined the WCI in July 2016 moving to Liverywoman in 2018 and became a Court Assistant in 2021 and took over the Chair of iWIN in 2020, having been on the committee for a number of years previously.

Outside of work Claire loves theatre and live music, walking and travelling and is mum to a now adult son
