The Master's Charity
Civitas Schools
Each Master nominates a charity that will be the focus of the Company's fundraising during their year in office.
Master Sara Fardon has chosen Civitas Schools to support her theme of promoting literacy.
Civitas Schools is a London based charity which runs after school classes and Saturday schools in London, providing those from disadvantaged backgrounds with low cost Maths and English lessons. Each school has a maximum classroom size of 10 students so that the teachers are able to give as much time and attention to each student as they need. Civitas aim to target those who are about to move on to secondary school and are failing to meet the government’s expected standards in reading, writing and maths.
In support of Civitas Schools the WCI is aiming to donate 500 books to Civitas for them to use and read in the classrooms at the schools. Some of these books will also be lent to the children as many of them do not have access to books at home.
If you would like to support the campaign please use the QR code below which will take the Just Giving Page – when you donate please write your favourite book in the comment section as we are putting together a WCI reading list to be shared with all members throughout the year.
Insurer’s School
In addition to the 500 books campaign we are very excited to share that for this year Civitas will be renaming one of the Civitas Schools “The Insurers School” which is reflective of the charitable support that will be given to Civitas from the WCI throughout this year.
