Common Hall all set for virtual debut

Common Hall, the Company’s annual meeting at which reports from officers and the Court are received and the new officers installed, will be live streamed from the National Liberal Club on Thursday 1 October at 6pm.

The original plans for a small, invited audience to be present had to be dropped in the light of the tougher public health regulations introduced in England on 14 September. Common Hall will now be attended by just six people, supported by a small technical team in another part of the large room we will be using.

It will include all the regular reports from the Master, Treasurer and Charitable Trusts with opportunities for members to ask questions and vote. The reports and accounts are available in the Members' area of the website and members are asked to send questions in advance, if possible, to the Clerk.

At Common Hall David Sales will be installed as Master in succession to Rosemary Beaver. In a break with precedent, Rosemary will not become Past Master but will be installed as Junior Warden. This is to give her the opportunity to serve a year as Master in 2022-23 which we all hope will not be so severely disrupted. Nick Dunlop will be installed as Senior Warden and Terry Masters will continue as Past Master for 2020-21.

All members should have received details of how to log-on for Common Hall from the Clerk's office.
