First year of Livery Food Initiative celebrated

John Young, chair of the WCI’s Charity trustees, attended a special reception at the Old Bailey to thank the livery companies that had contributed to the first year of the Livery Food Initiative.

There were speeches by Sheriff Andrew Marsden, Hilary Lindsay, the Convenor of the Livery Charity Chairs Group, and Sarah Calcutt, CEO of City Harvest (pictured) which rescues perfectly good food that would otherwise go to waste and delivers it to 375 charities in London working with those suffering food poverty. Every contribution, large or small, was recognised equally with an impressive-looking plaque, presented individually on stage.
