Let's #BreakTheBias

It’s International Women’s Day today and thousands of events, meetings, gatherings and social functions occur to mark achievements and developments for women. This year’s theme is #BreakTheBias, encouraging us all to identify and push back on gender bias, discrimination and stereotyping. The more it’s talked about and called out, the more the opportunity for change and parity is possible.

The WCI has been at the forefront of challenging the boundaries that have held women back in the insurance industry. We established iWIN – Insurance Women's Inclusivity Network – in 2014 to provide support to the learning and development for aspiring young female professionals and to provide the unparalleled networking opportunities with senior market practitioners that the WCI is able to offer.

In 2021 we reconfirmed our purpose to support the growing momentum of the diversity agenda and believe that iWIN is uniquely placed to support and encourage all female insurance professionals in their development and progression.

We were proud to have Rosemary Beaver as our first woman Master in 2020 and we know that she will not be the last. We work hard to make our livery inclusive and welcoming but we know there is more to do.

iWIN holds regular events to provide opportunities for women to develop their careers and to provide leadership on gender equality to the insurance market.

Our next iWIN event will look at one of the most challenging sectors – technology and the risk of insurance becoming even more male dominated in the digital age.
