Master Sara Fardon has raised over £21,000 for Civitas Schools, her chosen charity for her year as Master. She has thanked members for their support and their enthusiastic support for her Big Book Challenge.
"As I spend my final day as Master of the Worshipful Company of Insurers, I wanted to write to thank you for the support, kindness, and encouragement you have shown throughout my year.
"Below is ta link to the WCI Big Book List, one of the projects that has given me such great pleasure during my year as Master.
"What began as a simple question, 'What book have you enjoyed reading and would recommend to others?', grew into many enjoyable conversations and a collection of more than 100 recommendations from WCI members and friends.
"I hope you enjoy browsing the list and perhaps discover a few new books to add to your own reading pile. The generosity with which members shared their recommendations perfectly reflects the friendship, curiosity and sense of community that makes our Company special and a joy to be part of.
"Literacy has been a theme running through my year and was closely linked to my chosen charity, Civitas Schools. I am delighted to share that, through the generosity of WCI members, supporters and the WCI Charitable Trust, Civitas have received more than £21,000 to help provide books and educational resources to young children. This is a remarkable achievement and one that will make a genuine difference to their lives. Thank you to everyone who supported this initiative.
"Serving as your Master has been one of the greatest privileges of my professional life.
"Looking back, what stands out most is the warmth, generosity, and enthusiasm of our members. Whether at the Mansion House Banquet, our lectures, lunches, charitable activities, or informal gatherings, you have helped make this year memorable and rewarding.
"My thanks go to our Wardens, Court members, committee chairs, volunteers, and especially our Clerk, Victoria King, together with the office team.
"Most importantly, thank you to every member who has attended events, volunteered, donated, contributed ideas, welcomed new members or supported me personally throughout the year.
"I leave office with enormous pride in what we have achieved together, confidence in the future of our Company, and gratitude for the friendships I have made along the way and the feedback received.
"Thank you all for making my year as Master so special."
