Master's statement on Lord Mayor election

A statement from our Master Sara Fardon on the position of Lord Mayor, following the announcement that Tim Hailes has withdrawn his candidcacy.

"The City of London Corporation announced over the weekend that Alderman Timothy Hailes had withdrawn his candidacy for the mayoralty of the City of London.

"Alderman Bronek Masojada (pictured) will be supported for election to the Mayoralty in 2026/27. Alderman Masojada is a member of the Worshipful Company of Insurers and was Master in 2013.

"Master Sara Fardon said “The Worshipful Company of Insurers are sorry to hear the news about Alderman Tim Hailes. As Mother Company to Alderman Bronek Masojada we offer him our full support.”

The election of the Lord Mayor takes place at Common Hall on Tuesday 29 September with the Lord Mayor elect taking office on 13 November 2026 and the Lord Mayor's Show taking place the following day.
