"Perfect blend of tradition and progress"

Last night marked another key moment in Dame Susan Langley's progress to becoming Lady Mayor.
It was the Presentation Dinner at Drapers' Hall, celebrating her presentation at the House of Lords to Lord Chancellor by the Recorder of the City of London earlier in the day. The Lord Chancellor confirmed that the King had approved the choice made by the citizens of London for their next first citizen. The Lord Chancellor, David Lammy, attended the dinner and Past Lord Mayor Sir Andrew Parmley gave the speech toasting the Lady Mayor-Elect and her husband Gary, the Mayoral Consort-designate.
Master Insurer Sara Fardon said it was great occasion: “As Dame Susan’s Mother Company we were proud to join with her other Liveries – the Drapers and Goldsmiths – at her Presentation Dinner last night. It was the perfect blend of tradition and progress that Dame Susan said will be the hallmark of her year of office.”
