Insurance sits on the front line of climate risk. As extreme weather and other environmental pressures increase, insurers are often the first to see where resilience is keeping pace with risk, and where it is beginning to fall behind.
In this session, the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL) and ClimateWise, CISL’s insurance leadership group which has been advancing industry action on climate resilience since 2007, will share emerging insights from the ClimateWise Insurability Readiness Matrix, a first of its kind framework designed to help insurers navigate an increasingly complex risk landscape. The Matrix provides a practical way to understand where insurability is coming under pressure, how these challenges can be communicated effectively, and where interventions can strengthen resilience before critical tipping points are reached.
The session will be introduced by CISL Fellow and WCI Liveryman Irem Yerdelen and led by University of Cambridge experts, with contributions from WCI’s own Olivia Brindle who represents a ClimateWise member organisation (Canopius) that have helped shape the development of the Matrix.
